Hell's Half Acre is an historic area which, in the 1920's, was so studded with natural gas flares that the roar could be heard in Calgary more than 50 km away. Many people believed the sound rivalled that of hell itself. The Turner Valley Oilfield Society is proposing the development of an interpretation centre, which will provide tourists and residents alike with a unique educational insight into one of Alberta's most prolific historical developments.
